A Wastewalker Colossal from the Karkula tribe. Charnuk’s entire tribe was swallowed whole by a Nix Centipede in a standard caravan run through the icy kingdom’s snow-laden plains. A sole survivor, Charnuk was ridden with guilt, and with little else to bind him to his homeland, he crossed the forbidden border in the south, intent on exploring the world beyond the confines of Oldavor’s frostbitten lands.

Wastewalker Tribes of Colossals in Oldavor are known primarily as the lifeblood of the frozen land. These groups are those who connect the few Setonic Colossal settlements to each other, through vast caravan networks and an intrinsic knowledge instilled within them for navigating the icy wastes. The Karkula tribe was one of dozens of these, a small tribe consisting of about thirty members, most cousins and close relatives who had walked the wastes together for dozens of years. It was in the confines of this closely knit family that the young Charnuk was raised, and with his boisterous body, honed into a formidable fighter.

Yet none in his tribe, nor any Wastewalker Tribes could prepare themselves for what they faced in a standard caravan run to Budhavara, the one township of the Colossals that had open trade with the human kingdom of Mayreth. As they passed the ruins of Takhara, they were set upon by a gargantuan monstrosity: A Nix Centipede, a prowler beneath the snow, yet one greater than any had ever seen, a being of apocalyptic proportions. As it neared the tribe, they took their formidable positions to strike it as it rose, yet the mounds of snow it left in its wake drilled fear into the hearts of even the most hardened warriors in the tribe.

Their feet gave way beneath them, as the monster began encircling its enormous body around the group. In a bid of desperation, Charnuk dived towards the creature, blade at the ready as he plunged it into the carapace of the beast, yet it did naught. He was flung dozens of feet away, and watched on in horror as the beast’s circling motions grew quicker and tighter, clumping the entire tribe in one small circle before its gaping maw rose from beneath them, and all fell into the belly of the beast.

Charnuk was distraught, charging after it before it sifted away beyond the foggy horizon. With naught left to live for, he ventured south, in hopes of finding a swift death at the hands of the Watchers, or a new life beyond the borders of his icy home. As a lone Colossal, he was able to pass the border unnoticed or unopposed, and continued until he found himself in Mayreth’s capital. There he was given tutelage by the World Explorers and Hunters League (WEHL) in the ways of tongues of Men, and soon he came into their services as an invaluable asset, sent all across Tharador. Now the WEHL sends Charnuk into the city of Delvdor in Dornat Al Karit, where political tensions bubble as the recent Rupture sends the city into chaos, and swarms of subterranean monstrosities begin rising from the gaping chasm in the earth. He is told to bring as many samples of these creatures back to their chapter in Varekan, and take whatever he can alive.
